Or are you saying that games commonly associated with the term "RPG" aren't actually doing any of those things in said definition? Nichtcrawler X posted... When they want to group together say Final Fantasy, Golden Sun and Dragon Quest, but not want to include Zelda, GTA or Call of Duty, what would you call that genre? Fantasy RPG? Turn-based combat game? Fighting game? Shooting RPG? Adventure game? There is no overarching word to describe all of those games. You'll notice that I only used "RPG" in half of those. But regardless, the term "RPG" does not have to be vocalized in every single genre. Take BotW for example - just because it's most commonly referred to as an adventure game, doesn't mean it's not also an RPG.
