I always wondered how they killed the giant monster(s). I imagine they wouldn't have flamethrowers big enough for that thing
It's been a long ass time since I read the short story, but I kind of recall the Mist monsters couldn't really live outside of the Mist for too long. I think it implies, at least in the movie, that people might be able to wait out that process because the Mist looked like it was receding at the end.
That was also what the ending hella depressing.All they had to do was just wait it out, and the military would have arrived.
I know in the short story it's hinted that they just kind of kept on driving, I don't remember the full novel much besides that it hinted how they couldn't keep going on. ---
