Many software vendors have dropped support for it outright. In terms of security, an OS almost always becomes susceptible within a few days as most malevolent security researchers wait until the final security patch is released then sell the vulnerabilities they know on the deep web or whatever for mad $$$ gains. Vista might have an advantage in being an unpopular version of Windows but still should not be taken seriously.
