Neopets and AOL chatrooms were what I lived for back then.

A/S/L?

Nobody actually said "a/s/l" back then on AOL. Never have I seen that used in the chat rooms. Not once. It wasn't until I ventured out onto the internet in general, outside of AOL, that I started seeing that. What I DO remember a lot of was "age/sex check" in the AOL chat rooms. Unfortunately, every time I mention this, nobody seems to have any memory of it.

yeah dude I don't know what bootleg version of AOL you were on....

For real.

I've never used chat rooms outside of AOL and it's always been a/s or a/s/l.

No. I've never seen "a/s/l". And it's maddening that nobody seems to remember "age/sex check". Is this a generational thing or something? Maybe it switched over sometime during the early-/mid-2000s.

On Yahoo! Chat, during the late-90s or so, I do remember a/s/l, kinda. But never on AOL's chat rooms. They had their own thing. I can't recall seeing it on mIRC though, although I wouldn't be surprised...

How do you not remember A/S/L on AOL?

Again, I never used any other chat rooms and was always well aware of A/S/L.

Shit. People even used to describe their looks with that shit.
