I feel like they were told to move back, they objected because someone was sleeping across their seats, then refused to move back if the guy who was occupying their seats was asked to not do that. That last part is where they had to be removed. See that's where it loses me. Like why didn't the flight attendants get him to wake up? And also, side note - who sprawls across THREE seats!? Like I understand spilling over to one, but taking up two seats?
