I understand that it's used as a way to force acceptance of something that reasonable people are already fine with anyway... Bigots won't change their minds, they'll only dig in their heels, especially over some of the more hypersexualized aspects. If it's a case of "showing them anyway", what's the point?

Because people tend to be proud for some reason about things they have been born with, like sexuality, skin colour, nationality, etc. How can someone be proud of something they didn't do anything to achive?

Pride was created as a means of unifying and celebrating something that we were born with. So many people died and fought very hard to get the rights that gays have today.

THAT is something worth celebrating.

The message is...slightly diluted by some of the newer generations who don't respect the history behind it and use it as an excuse to party but...the message is just that.

People suffered, we preserved, we exist and will continue to exist and deserve to be acknowledged as normal humans.
