A thinner layer of proper fruit with gelatin is correct. That picture is clearly just a thick chunk of jello with some fruit. Such a shame to even call that a trifle. You never will find a better dessert than a proper trifle. Whether a light one with fruit or a subtle chocolate or even wilder flavors, they're just so lovely. Edit: Eugh. Both of the pictures of trifle on that Wikipedia page are bad. Trifles have clearly defined layers!
