Here in Florida I think we got dinged with everything that came over the Atlantic for the first few storms of 2004 (Charley, Francis, Ivan, and Jean).

They were relatively minor as hurricanes, though (even if Charley didn't know when to leave). The last truly monstrous thing to threaten the state before Matthew last year was probably Floyd in 1999.

As someone who lives on the east coast, I'm not fond of it. Matthew skirted the line and basically the only reason we got off as we did was because it was just far enough off shore to give the coastal counties like Cat 2-levels of wind to endure. Like 20 miles closer and everything would have been proper screwed.
