Like Sling TV or Playstation Vue?

My parents finally want to cut the cord but still want a cost-effective TV channel service to replace it. I just have Netflix and Hulu accounts, so I don't have any first-hand experience to help them. I have a couple questions:

1. Which service is generally considered the most reliable? I think that's what my parents are most worried about.

2. What are their user interfaces like? My parents can have a hard time adjusting to new technology, so they would prefer one that is considered user-friendly.

3. My parents do not want to have to get a smart TV, so what do you believe is the best device to hook up to their pre-existing TV? All I know is Roku, and I assume there are different products from them.

4. Do any of them offer live, local programming? I would upgrade my Hulu account to Hulu Live, but it doesn't offer several of my parents' most-watched channels.
