Wheat pennies arent terribly uncommon, but still neat. I like the wheat stalk design over the lincoln memorial design. 1940 isnt terribly old, but check those dates on wheats. You might have a key date(rare year).

If you have a 1909 philadelphia wheat penny(no mint mark) you have 5-15 dollars on your hands, depending on condition. If you have a 1909 San Fransisco(S) minted coin, you have a 500-1,000+ depending on condition. the difference: 400 million philadelphias vs 400,000 san frans
