I couldn't live in a place without a landline. cell phones aren't always reliable. but then again I think things have changed, I can recall a time where if you had a corded phone it would work even without power to the house, as long as the phonelines where good, no electricity was needed. so it was great for extreme weather conditions where power may go down and reception would likely be shit on a cell. (and also no way to charge them)
