It's an incredibly mediocre song. I still can't fathom how it's hitting those numbers within just a year.

It is a pop song backed by rich label. Is not played everywhere because it is popular, it is popular because it is played everywhere.

Their marketing stratrgy is basically make a catchy repetitive shit, then pay big media and outlet to play it literally everywhere. With big media playing it, the smaller ones have to follow to get their share of mainstream viewers, and you start hearing it everywhere. Radio, tv, youtube rec, on shops, cafes, etc

It basically a,self promoting machine, and combines with psychology, the song is designed to be stuck in your head because it is repetitive.

Thats how the pop music industry works nowadays. Basically they brainwash people to like the song.

Doesnt help either that most people's mindset is "new is cool" everything now are just fads, designed to make money as much as possible in a short burst of time till the next "new cool thing" appear.
