http://www.newhealthguide.org/Is-Corn-A-Vegetable.html

Botanically and nutritionally speaking, corn is a grain

And grain is a subcategory of vegetable. This is the same argument that saturated fat and fat are different just because dieticians recommend different amounts to consume.

How could dietitians recommend different amounts if they weren't separate things?

5g of fat, 3g of which are saturated. This means 3g is saturated and 2g is unsaturated. You are eating 5g of fat and 3g of unsaturated, but they entirely overlap so you don't intake more than 5g of fat.

This is how subsets work.

You're not demonstrating how saturated fat and fat are 'not different'. You are continuing to describe them as two different things. Just because fat is an umbrella that includes saturated and unsaturated doesn't mean that all fat is the same. Squares are rectangles, but not all rectangles are squares.
