It's a non-trivial sum, certainly, and has the potential to make a significant difference, but by the sound of it, they were expecting it to do a whole lot more for them than it actually would. I don't think the $300,000 is going to last much longer in just one set of hands. That said, massive dick move to renege on splitting it.
