It's a success, in the sense it is probably still fairly profitable for MS in North America. Overall though, I am confident it has disappointed them. They dominated last gen until Sony stopped fucking around in 2009 and things began to slowly shift. I have no idea what they were thinking with mandatory Kinect (charging an extra $100 for something you want to force on people was stupid - they should've ate the cost and had a better value product then made up the shortfall with software later) and the "always on" nonsense that was worst of all... Did they not use any market research on that one? Type "I like always online products" anywhere on the internet and wait for everybody to queue up to throw shit in your face. Rumours of it were circulating a year before the Xbox One announcement was made, so there was no excuse to have their finger that off the pulse.
