I ran into an monster Effie in the arena last week that can prove you wrong. This Effie had Distant Counter, Wary Fighter, Distant Defense from a seal, and a +Res refined Berkut's Lance. She had like 36 in both defenses even before Distant Defense factored in, and she ate through my whole team like a delicious cake. That's what I was planning on building for my Effie, a Berkut's Lance rendition. Mine is +DEF/-SPD, so I can get up to 32 resistance.
