Bloodborne progress: Definitely feel like I put a lot of lessons from watching that video to use while exploring Cathedral Ward. Still a lot of silly deaths at times, but I think that's just part of the experience. Found two different lamps to new areas but I've stuck in Cathedral Ward for now. Found and fought Vicar Amelia, died both times. First was "oh here's the boss" and was mostly a learning run where I tried to figure out the different attacks. Second taught me that I think I'm a bit too passive still. I definitely dealt more than enough damage to win, but couldn't outpace her self-healing. I feel I should definitely win either next time or the time after (depends how much muscle memory I "forgot" since last time.) I'd 100% win if I figure out the Visceral timing/distance because I did it by accident near the end of the second attempt and was shocked I could (also this is definitely how I beat Gasciogne the last time.) Still probably win if I look at my consumables because I recall picking up some items that said they block healing. Finally I could just get better and find more opportunities to simply attack and win that way. That feels like the ideal solution but yeah. To be fair, towards the end of the second run I started experimenting with that as I realized I wasn't doing enough DPS but yeah.

Other highlights~

I got killed by a UFO or something when picking up an item earlier in the Cathedral Ward. Just beamed up into the sky and dead. Later I had a similar death when I was exploring and found a locked door, but this one seemed a bit more telegraphed. Some blue portal appeared and then I got sucked up and killed by some... thing... on the roof. I don't recall any such signs the first time but maybe it was similar?

Ran into some hunter jerk with a shotgun or something. this was literally harder than any fight in the cathedral ward, and i'm including vicar amelia if only because that fight makes sense to me even though i never died to this guy. this guy just dodged and parried everything and liked to spam shots up to 7 times in a row. I also could never figure out his tell when he'd go melee fast enough to parry myself. If I could tell, it was too late, I'd get hit first. Thankfully he seemed to be a mini-boss or something and does not respawn. still what a pain he was.
