Found another of those rifle spear hunters but I could cheese this one by getting him to follow me down some stairs and trapping him there. And when he got out, he'd run back to let me do it again. how kind. Anyway, made it to Blood-starved Beast and I'm assuming this is considered one of the easier bosses? Because I styled all over him first time with little difficulty.

So next on my "areas I can go" list was Hemwick Lane. This felt like a short and straightforward area. Got through it quickly and again beat the Witch of Hemwick first try with pretty much no trouble. I actually spent a while fighting the mobs until I realized that they were being spawned about as fast as I could beat them, but they wouldn't even drop echoes.

the general progression would be Old Yharnam, then Hemwick, then Amelia. I'm guessing you bought the Hunter Chief Emblem for 10,000 echoes in order to open the gate, but if you kill the Bloodstarved Beast this opens up the door in Cathedral Ward that leads to an alternate path you can use to get into central yharnam without paying to open the gate. so basically the reason Bloodstarved Beast felt easy for you is that he was designed to fight with a +2/+3 weapon at a fairly low level, and I'm assuming you have a +5/+6 weapon and you're a medium level.

However, it taught me something from an earlier session. That thing that killed me is called Amygdala. Only this time it teleported me to a school or something. I explored it and it was even shorter and I winded up somewhere else. Only I don't think I'm in Kansas anymore. Went back to the Hunter's Dream and saw these areas correlate to a much "later" tombstone so I guess I'll come back later?

so when the guy first talks to you about amygdala he gives you a tonsil stone. this stone allows the amygdala to grab you and take you to the lecture hall.

getting into the DLC uses a similar function with the player getting an item after beating amelia, and this item allows a different amygdala to grab you and teleport you to the hunter's nightmare

^just for the record these spoilers should be safe for you to read, I just marked them out for other people's sake who may not have played the game yet.
