I think this is being exaggerated. There are many jobs out there right now but I doubt the trend is the way you describe. >_>

Anemic employment is a thing, it exists in the U.S., and it is harmful if it goes on for too long. When unemployment reaches around 2% is when it starts to become a problem. Businesses can't expand, they're working on skeleton crews which strains the workers, albeit well-paid workers with lots of employment prospects. But it is exactly the right type of place for a person with no real marketable skills or experience to go. Not only is the pay decent, you get a variety of types of jobs and training to go with it. If I didn't already have a career in software engineering and was working low wage jobs, I'd get the hell out of Dodge and go to where the opportunities are.

The problem is you have to live in Utah or Indiana

Can someone explain to me the cause of this left coast liberal elitism of other more reasonable states from people who pay triple the living expenses for half the space, except for those who live in their own cars?
