I've never had such a gradual yet total 180-degree turn on a character like I have David Madsen, especially when I realized that he's an allegory for Max. He's doing the exact same questionably-ethical stuff as Max, and he's doing it with the same goal in mind: protect Chloe and solve the mystery of Arcadia Bay. He's just doing it without timehax, so he has to be more overt, conventional, methodical, and use his authority for all he can. After I realized that, it made me pissed at myself for immediately dismissing him as an unrepentant asshole just because I didn't like his demeanor and politics.
