Zodiac War is the story of a battle royale competition among 12 characters representing the Chinese zodiac. It's a show that doesn't shy away from violence, as each episode is loaded with gore. It's also not very good.

The first thing to know about this show is that it's pretty damn edgy. I do use that word a bit too much to describe things I don't like, but the first episode is the backstory for the Boar sign, and how she got to her position through making her sister, the initial recipient, kill so many people to the point where she becomes insane and unable to participate. It proceeds to kill her off at the hands of a Playboy bunny, after spending a full episode showing how hardcore she is. I thought this was hilarious when I firs watched it, since I thought it was an actual joke. But you soon figure out that such is simply the formula this show puts forth in nearly every episode. You get full backstories on characters, only for them to die when it's over. There's nobody to get attached to or to root for because nobody has any depth outside of their origin.

overall, it was one of those shows where I couldn't stop myself from watching for whatever reason. I think there are a few glimpses of quality on occasion, namely in the connected stories of Ox and Tiger, but the show is too short and the writing too shallow to actually meet a reasonable standard of quality.
