To an extent this is true, but you are vastly underestimating the size of the ingroup. For starters, it automatically includes all veterans, a very large number of which are gun owners. And it could reasonably be extended to include all gun owners, period, especially in the type of culture war type scenario we are talking about where gun owners are being systematically targetted on a national scale. The military is pro Second Amendment leaning in general, but there is a substantial subculture within it that is pro gun to a fanatical degree, like those groups mentioned earlier that make the NRA look like posers. --- Blasting off ...
