STEAM BATTLE #9 SanctuaryRPG: Black Edition: Oh good, it still has my progress saved! I'm not sure I unlocked that much, and I don't want to jump right in with a mid(?) level guy, but it's nice to have. This was my jam, but it's been....years, probably, and I was never more than decent at it. Went with two Barbarians- I remember reading a Paladin guide that worked decently, but didn't want to do research. Got somewhat of a handle back for how stuff worked, but dang there are a lot of meters and not a lot of labels, even with the tutorial. Pretty much exactly how I remember it though! My first died on the first non-tutorial fight, because I tried to fight a boss I erroneously thought was scripted to show up then. Barb the Second managed to get past the Terminal and start opening up some gameplay elements. Fun stuff. Punishing stuff. Maybe I should play without perma-death, but that seems wrong.

THE VERDICT: I knew this would be a tough one, and indeed it was. It's a narrow margin, but I think I am *slightly* more excited to play Sanctuary again. Might be a bit more professional quality, might just be recency bias. Hatoful will almost certainly be back in the future, but now Sanctuary gets to take on Phantom Brave, and that might be closer than expected.
