Hanasaku Iroha (2011) pyresword (5/5) https://images3.alphacoders.com/650/650837.jpg This show is about a high school girl who gets abandoned by her mother and decides to work at an inn to fend for herself. It's mostly an episodic slice of life about beautiful friendship and all that fairy tale garbage, and it works pretty well! I remember, when this began airing, the anime topic was hailing this as the next big thing. Though, by the time the latter half began rolling in, those praises fell a bit flat, and nearly everyone had some sort of middling opinion in the end. I was one of these people, and I think the reasoning behind the drop in quality lies within the characters. Obviously, I' speaking about a 7-year old show that I gave a 6/10, so forgive me if I screw something up, but most of the character development happens in the first half of the show, leaving the second half to stumble along to the finish line. Ohana was a lot of fun at first, but that didn't really carry over to a full two cours, and it resulted in a show that I got a little tired of. Still, it's not a bad slice of life.
