I haven't played the Steam version (or even the App version), but it is a long and fantastic game. I enjoy it because you really feel like you are building an empire and you have to balance all of your different resources. It creates a lot of internal tension (in a good way) because you never seem to have enough of anything to do what you want. However, it's got plenty of interaction between players so it doesn't feel like solitaire.
