Wasn't hard. This was in Fremont Ca over 30 years ago. Had a sleeping bag and would climb on top of roofs. Movie theaters were the best because they had large vents and the area underneath them would not be rained on (not that it rained that much). It's not ever really that cold there, but honestly I don't get cold easily anyway.

Tons of apartment complexes in the area, would sleep on those rooftops, or even the car port roofs sometimes. Since I didn't ever store my stuff there, I could easily move from place to place so I wasn't ever sleeping anywhere a long time, so people could notice.

Back then they had nintendo systems in the malls as well (bunch of kiosks) so you could just go play them during the day if you wanted. Library was great for getting books. There was dunkin donuts you could go to and stay all night if you wanted to read late or something as well.

I was always a VERY good climber though, used to mountain climb when I got a bit older but even as a kid I did parkour before it was a thing (at least I never knew about it back then). I used to climb up to rooftops in San Francisco and jump from one to another, so climbing up there to sleep wasn't a big stretch.

so you were homeless at this time? why though?
