FATALITY!

I was always the kid who imagined himself being in whatever I was watching and being able to do the biggest, coolest things the good guys (or even bad guys!) did. Finishing moves can tie into a characters personality, or they could be just plain awesome for awesomes sake. Either way, they're meant to deliver the hype. And since this is Board 8, and ranking things is in one way or another about 1/2 of this board's substantive topics... Yep.

"But Trdl, why did this take so long for you to do?" I hear you ask. And I reply: Have you ever seen any of the projects I try to do on this board? We're lucky I managed to do it at all. Praise be to the GMUN Bumper Bot.

Anyway, using the 62 beautiful nominations supplied by awesome people, I put them through a totally objective and not biased at all formula to determine which ones are best.

Here there be rules:

What is a finishing move?

An important question; so glad you asked! For our purposes, a move/attack qualifies as a finishing move like this:
-The move must be signature to a specific character or small group of characters
-The move does not necessarily need to be a OHKO, but it should be advertised (in story or in mechanics) as the biggest weapon or attack a character has in their arsenal.
-The move should not be something used very frequently and nonchalantly. Use your own judgement.
-The move is allowed to be something that changes the environment of the fight as opposed to being a direct damaging attack.
-If a character is in multiple games/movies/whatever and their finishing move changes in between, any of those finishers can be nominated separately.
-If the move is not a physical or magical attack but might still fit the description, go for it and well see how it fares.

What kinds of media apply?
Entries needed to have a video link to qualify. All moves are nominated based on the video and any context provided by the entrant or that I happened to know. If there's a really sweet iteration of a move and the entrant used a super lame one, the lame one stands. That was the only real requirement. Anime, video games, wrestling, whatever, its all good. In the write-up, I'll make sure to mention anything needed to make you, the audience, understand how cool or lame the move is.

How will Trdl grade these?
The following system applies, each scored out of 10:

-Aesthetics: How flashy is it? Is this something 10-year-old Trdl would want to pretend he could do in front of his nerd friends? This isn't necessarily flashy in a visual sense... but that doesn't hurt.
-Dominance: How much does it portray its users strength and skill? This isnt necessarily just about how much damage it does (otherwise Mortal Kombat would run amok) but how badass it makes its user seem.
-Damn: How intangibly cool is it overall? Is it the kind of thing I will watch and involuntarily exclaim, Daaaaaaaamn!?

In the event of an overall tie score, Damn is the tiebreaker. If thats still tied, I will make the decision independently.

Next post will have a list of entrants and their respective entries. Videos will be linked as the write-ups happen. Sit back and enjoy!
