Topic	Woman has psychologist intentionally blind her due to Body Identity Disorder.

This. As far as I know, there is no treatment for biid. While I don't think psychologists or doctors should be mutilating these people, I doubt locking them up will do much good either (unless they pose a danger to others, but I don't think that's a likely issue given the nature of the disorder). If they harm themselves so be it, but effectively imprisoning them on the taxpayers' dollar and relegating them to a life of that misery doesn't do anyone any good. probably due to the fact that in todays world rather than treating insanity, we enable it. not to say there would be a cure, but clearly these kinds of people are mentally unhinged. whether they are legit dangers to other people? who knows. but I do know this, if they harm themselves like this woman did, they now go to the ER and take up time and resources(and who knows if theyll actually ever pay the damn bill) that would be going to someone who actually needs it, say a victim of a violent crime. while we could never know for sure, if this person by blinding herself and then having to take up space in the ER cost someone's life who legit needed to be there, then I say charge her with some kind of felony. if society is going to be forced to foot that bill and cost of those resources and that time.....then yeah they can be locked up in an insane asylum. its only fair. and then we have her parading around like shes some kind of damn hero for the blind community? pure sheer unmatched lunacy. <cite>kayoticdreamz posted [p:901707591] in Woman has ...
