Gen 5 was also pretty much the start of power creep Pokemon that were once strong defensively pretty much felt like paper to the new standards introduced in Gen 5. Even though new gens have introduced new pokemon each gen, new additions before gen 5 felt the same power wise as earlier gens. Personally I think gen 4 was the best for competitive battling, because you got the special/physical split buffing pokemon that were only bad due to their stat and typing not working favorably. --- ...
