What really made humans dominant, besides their intellect was:

1) opposable thumbs: you can now grab stuff, build things and create tools.

2) fine movement: There is a reason we're weaker: We're tuned for fine movements. We can paint a work of art, sculpt using clay or swing an axe to chop wood. A gorilla couldn't sharpen a sword even if he had the smarts to do so, his movements aren't that delicate. This is important because of tool building

3) language: language, written and oral are a way of passing knowledge from generation to generation. Every human born now has inherited a vast wealth of knowledge, so we can train new people in engineering, medicine, war, etc with schooling. A dolphin or bird as smart as Einstein would not carry on his civilization because they can't write a book or explain nuanced stuff such as E= MC2, there's only so much you can communicate with a bunch of sounds or sonar waves.
