CA had several things in the latter half especially that I dlsliked.

They humanized them way too much, to the point of ruining their intrigue. A little was fine, but at the end of it it's virtually irrelevant what they are, they were just another group powerful humanoids to take down. The more they added, the more it took away from their concept. Little of it was sympathetic, either, so it was a rabbit hole that only hurt the product.

In that vein, eventually they bring up there's several that remember everything about their past, yet none of them seriously do anything about it, except at the very end, long after they had already established they had enough free will to do something much sooner.. Kecleon only turns because his father was murdered by Meruem, so he hardly counts. Also in that vein, the intensity to which Meruem's personality shifts through a short period of time is completely unnatural and designed only to give him a sympathetic angle that I never really felt worked.

Several parts of the arc are dragged out too long, such as when Meruem can't remember Komugi's name. We didn't need 3 1/2 episodes that were almost the same thing rescripted on itself. That particular phase was an exercise in patience, and probably when I got into the "End this already damnit" mindset.

Possibly the worst part is the conclusion. You basically made the enemy into a bunch of overpowered demigods that weren't "Chimera Ants" anymore. It didn't matter what they were at that point and it didn't matter how they got there. The initial premise of the arc feels like it's almost completely lost by the end of it.

Worse, the only way they end up being dealt with it by... Literally bombing and poisoning their king, thus also poisoning their royal guard too. Not only is this a total cop-out that exists only for the obvious message of "mankind is the true monster", there's absolutely no reason whatsoever that such a measure, being that effective, would not have been taken much more quickly. If the Chimera Ants were that easy to take out, they should've been dealt with way before the King ever came into existence in the first place, and people would not have had to needlessly die.

That's just what comes to mind in a blink.
