But global warming is a myth right?

To be fair, hurricane season goes in cycles, and tends to alternate between periods where hurricanes are rarer and weaker, and periods where hurricanes occur more frequently and with greater force. We've known this for decades, and as early as two years before Katrina hit meteorologists were talking about how we'd been in a particular calm period, but were about to enter a much more energized period where we were going to see a lot more strong storms (something I remembered when Katrina hit - I was like, "Man, they sure called that one" afterwards).

So regardless of whether or not global climate change is a thing, it has absolutely nothing to do with this particular attempt by Mother Nature to kill us all. It's apparently just a natural cycle, and we've all had the (mis)fortune of growing up and spending most of our lives during a lacuna period, so it seems way worse to us now that the trough is peaking again.
