Tatsuki wants to be a prizefighter when she grows up. (and also Orihime wants to be a robot or smth) It's the anniversary of Ichigo's mom's death, so time to visit her grave and dump some backstory. Ichigo blames himself for it- he was trying to save a girl (probably a ghost) and mom died trying to save HIM. Some weird holes in that story, which are probably gonna be filled in soon, because the girl from the flashback shows up and attacks Karin! Side note after some dialogue: I LIKE Orihime, I just ship Ichigo a lot harder with Rukia and really like their interactions. Heck I'd take Tatsuki, too. Turns out our little mystery friendo is a puppet of a Hollow, kinda like the lure on an anglerfish. "Grand Fisher" has been using that trick to devour people with high energy for fifty years, and has been a long-standing issue for Soul Society. Ichigo is just a bit unhappy with this thing for killing his mom. Ichigo is able to get the win, but not to finish Grand Fisher off. We'll be getting a rubber match down the line somewhere, no doubt- Ichigo is now all in on Soul Reaping so he can protect people, and Grand Fisher got a good scolding for not taking him seriously enough. My rating: 7/10 Solid character development, but not much else besides fighting, and Bleach is not a manga where I particularly like the fight scenes. Some I do! But here it's just a bit too straightforward so far. Overall rating: 8/10 I'd be interested in reading more (and have, in the past), but not necessarily enough to really seek it out, especially considering its ponderous length. Good art and characters though, and that's something I value no matter the genre. Bonus question: What's the most mainstream thing you've read or watched?
