Almost from the very first time I ever RPed (in the Marvel Superheroes RPG), my character had Darkforce powers (basically, the ability to see in the dark, summon and control living shadows, teleport from place to play through shadows, turn into shadows, and travel to/through a dimension entirely made up of living shadow). Then, years later, when I was playing Vampire: the Masquerade, the Lasombra rapidly became my favorite clan, and their clan power is pretty much the exact same thing (see in the dark, summon and control living shadows, teleport from place to play through shadows, turn into shadows, and travel to/through a dimension entirely made up of living shadow). That's sort of become my signature go-to. So given a choice, I'd probably go with something like that. On the other hand, my other go-to options in games where I have a lot of freedom tend to be mind control (every mage I ever made in Mage: the Ascension always had high stats in Mind magic, and most of my vampires in Vampire had Dominate and Presence pretty high) or time control (basically, the ability to stop, slow, rewind, fast forward, or even travel through time), so I might go with one of those as well. One off the wall idea I've also had in the past was being able to either animate things in pictures or videos to make them real, or conversely, to sort of project myself into a picture or video so I'm basically in the scene. So I could, theoretically, be trapped on a desert island but still be able to animate pictures of food in a magazine or book and eat it, or warp myself to a lovely beach in Hawaii for a casual vacation whenever I want. Let's just assume I'm probably going to wind up the villain that most of the rest of the Geek topic has to fight to save the world. ~~Though, of course, you're all welcome to join me in conquering the world.
