I still do watch BB, but I find that 90% of the contestants play like morons, or playcate the "star" of the house more often than not and delude themselves into thinking that they're actually playing. BB19 was so painful, and the only moment of enjoyment I got was seeing Paul lose.
The Bachelor knows it's cheese, and leans into it. This is especially true in the spin off shows like Winter Olympics or Paradise. Many times they don't even hide the crew, they'll talk about the edit, or break the fourth wall because they know the fans aren't dumb enough to think this isn't a recorded show. I don't know, it's hard to explain. Some of the contestants are just so damn entertaining its incredible. Cause they're all trying SO HARD to look and act their 100% best and to see them try is really entertaining.
I could get into it about the juries but we'd be talking forever. I do agree with you, the format of the show(s) states that the Jury is the group that decides who wins. Not who deserves to win, but who ACTUALLY wins. It's just becoming harder and harder to play an aggressive game with this current meta of "make me feel like I'm super important" jury members. Which is fine, good players will adjust. But is it great for the viewer to see your winner sniveling and downplaying all their aggressive moves in order to massage the ego of the jury?
I want to see a big personality come out, whip their proverbial dick out, and be proud of the aggressive game they played (just don't call the jury a bunch of babies). But in the current meta I don't think there is any way for this to happen sadly. Game very often does not respect Game.
I disagree with your take on the current meta. Aggressive players still win today just as much as they did before. Id say Natalie, Mike, Jeremy, Sarah, and Ben were all flashy and fit this mold. Especially Ben, a more recent player!
As for BB, Im not sure who this even applies to other than Kaela. It doesnt work for Andy, Derrick, Steve, Nicole (legit played much better). I guess Paul in BB19? But that was a good thing!
In BBCAN: Kevin won, Paqs bros won, Jon won, all more aggressive. The difference? They didnt piss off and rub half the jury the wrong way.
