And not going to lie, I hated Luke dying. But HOW he died, and why, and the lack of a clear answer to either of those 2 questions, pissed me off more than anything. I can see why Hamill disagreed with what Rian did with the character).

To be honest, I knew that was going to happen at some point in these movies the moment they announced they were going to make them. And really, it pretty much NEEDED to happen.

I think it was handled well enough in context. It was essentially a redemptive arc, and...

Also, I'll smugly point out that I ended up being correct that The Last Jedi was a dumb and lying name, for the exact reasons I speculated months ago. "I will not be the last Jedi!" Yeah Luke, it was obvious to me that was never going to be the case. 2 titles in a row now that have just sucked.

I'd argue that's meaningless, though. If it sums up the thematic point of the movie (and it does), it's an accurate title. Whether you interpret it as Luke being the last Jedi (which he is), or Rey becoming the last of the Jedi (for now) once Luke dies, it was still true for 90%+ of the movie.

The fact that he recants that sense of identity in the end doesn't somehow negate the idea. If anything, his recanting effectively gives the title meaning.

And it's not like half the world didn't point out that "Jedi" can be plural anyway.
