Any thoughts on why Solo is under performing at the box office?

Could be blowback from the first few Disney SW films. Keep in mind that what you thought of the last movie or two influences your decision to see the next one.

Have any of you seen Solo? Still plan to see Solo? Do you even have any interest in Solo, and if you do or do not why? Any thoughts on the lackluster returns?

I assume I'll watch it when it comes to NFI or someplace else. Then again, I still haven't watched RO so...

idk, the fact that Danny Glover is in it and that it covers Han Solo at least makes it more appealing than RO. As it is, we're in the midst of a geek cashinaissance (which is kind of a like a renaissance, but with more cashing in) so there's far too much stuff coming out these days to reasonably follow, let alone if you have other interests.

When they originally announced they were going to do Rogue One, Solo, and a presumed Obi-Wan movie, Rogue One was pretty much the only concept I even remotely gave a shit about. Now that they've announced a Boba Fett movie, I'm completely apathetic about that one as well (mostly because I never even remotely cared about him as a character the way so many other people did - gee whiz, he's a fuck up who does one clever thing, says three generic lines, has Vader do him a favor, and then gets eaten by a sand vagina. Kewlest guy evar!).

Strong silent type >_>

idk, the EU wrote him out of the Sarlaac Pit -- and added to his badass legend -- but that's non-canon now so I'm not quite sure what's going on with him (although it *might* have been addressed in Star Wars: Rebels which I haven't seen). And he wasn't much of a fuck-up, he very easily tracked and trapped Han Solo's group. And his loss resulted from being struck from behind while in battle.

In general, I care more about the bounty hunters than the other characters although a lot of their shit is non-canon now and most of the others haven't had much added to their story so far (although Dengar appeared in Clone Wars, voiced by Simon Pegg).

But hey, the last few years have basically had me cutting ties with tons of franchises (or creators of franchises) I used to absolutely love, but which are either completely dead to me now or outright repugnant in their mere existence. So throwing Star Wars onto that particular bonfire wouldn't hurt my feelings all that much.

Not sure that there's all that much that I completely gave up on (well, other than the Daily Show when they changed hosts and *didn't* go with Bassem Youssef or, for that matter, an existing correspondent -- and, prior to that, I stopped watching Colbert some time after the Suey Park incident). Granted, pretty everything I'm less enthusiastic over than I used to be and I kinda go through interests in phases.

Even with the WWE where I don't like the overall direction and many of the individual decisions, I've more stopped watching due to how much time it consumes... and part of that is because I started watching more product. If I hadn't followed then fell behind on NXT, it's possible I might have kept with the main shows.
