Of all the stupid things you post, that ranks pretty high.

And has also suggested that Russia should be allowed to join, people smarter than me tell me why these are good things

...well, for starters, it *used* to be the G8. You might be too young to remember this, but before the annexation of Crimea in 2014 (which, if we go back even further, was a part of Russia for hundreds of years prior to them giving it to Ukraine), Russia was a long-time member. And, as a major geopolitical force, it makes sense that Russia would be part of it since it's easier to work with Russia than against it.

Except going by the lists on Wikipedia, China is the one that should have a seat based on worth, not Russia. Russia is actually much lower on the list than I was expecting...

China may be an economic powerhouse, but it doesn't have Russia's historical influence. Plus China is every bit as problematic as Russia, if not more so. Keep in mind that they're currently illegally trying to take control of the South China Sea.

the obvious fact that China is in the process of taking America's place globally?

It's really not. That's been used as a talking point for ages, but the reality is that China is still very much a developing nation and lacks the political clout held by major nations, partly because it was colonized rather than a colonizer. And, if not for the US and global powers disarming Japan, its military influence in the region would be greatly diminished.

Not to mention China's growing economy has been built on blatantly unfair trade practices, complete disregard for copyright law (including the use of state-sponsored cyber-esponiage of US companies), borderline slave labor, etc.
