Im not good at debating or explaining my thoughts and stuff. Naruto was one of the very first anime series I got into so it also has a weird/special place for me. Back when I first started it I felt like it was great. I thought it was building an interesting world and had tons of characters with promise. It used to be one of my favorites and then it just seemed to abandon everything and become worse as it went on. I probably hold a bigger grudge against it than other things because of that. I used to be so excited when a new chapter came out and the time skip just really killed everything for me. All the side characters were thrown to the curb, Sasuke just became a bigger douche and Narutos character turned into a big joke/lie. It used to feel like things mattered in it and that ultimately something would be done about the bad guys, but I guess my bad not being aware of what most shounen series were.

With DB I never had any real expectations. DB is just pure entertainment. Nobody praises the writing or thinks it has deep character stuff or anything, but people love it because its fun to see what fight will happen next. With DB its much easier to wave away bad writing and character logic because it never really tried to be serious. Its just something dumb you can watch like the Final Destination movies. This is why its easy to not care about stuff like Vegeta having murdered lots of characters because nobody in the DB world cares, theres no consequences and so theres no reason for viewers to care either.

Both have bad writing, but Im forgiving towards DB because its very entertaining and has likable characters and good action while Naruto lost all entertainment it had unless you were just really enjoying watching how bad it got.

That probably doesnt really explain anything better, but since Naruto actually tried to pretend its world cared about good vs evil ninjas and stuff I cant forgive it for waving away Sasuke being a total asshat like it didnt matter.
