tbh I feel like junkos death was too abrupt. Like it had already established that messing with the bear would kill them, it didn't feel like they needed to prove it again. she barely had a chance to establish her character
The abruptness is why I think it works so well. The game sets a murder mystery kind of premise, so it's not a surprise at all when someone gets murdered. Junko's death ratchets the stakes a lot by showing that their lives are in danger from not only each other but their surroundings as well - there's a big difference between the bear saying "I'll totally kill you" and actually doing so without a moment's hesitation. You aren't expecting another death so soon. It helps sell the situation as being a truly dangerous one. ---
