The whole reason for trial by jury is because of a long history of biased and outright corrupt judges. Trial by jury is a far fairer system and less prone to shenanigans

Because bringing in laymen when the professionals make a mistake/are corrupt makes so much sense...

6-12 people with no stake in the proceedings are automatically less likely to be corrupt. You have to be pretty bad with sense not to see that >_> And the 12 laypeople work to the defendant's advantage, ensuring that the innocent are less likely to wind up in prison; likewise, the 6+ are more likely to render an impartial verdict in civil cases.

ugh i hope you get in so badly.

Why would you hope this on me? I really don't want to go! For reference, I live in Flint, Michigan and that's where the court is. So if I don't have to be the juror on some heinous rape or murder I might get raped or murdered while walking into the courthouse.

i'm rooting for you!

lol

tbh, I hope Jen gets her wish and gets stuck on a *lengthy* federal case >_>
