While it may be more comforting for you to believe that politicians always say exactly what they mean and make every effort to fulfill every campaign promise they make while running, perhaps now you can be a more informed voter in future when you realize that the entire political process is mostly performance art, and politicians care far more for how they're perceived than they do actually representing themselves truthfully, regardless of what political affiliation they otherwise hold. This may also help you to realize why the politicians who actually seem more sincere about their agendas and ideology as opposed to presenting soundbites and photo ops and trying to seem like some cool guy you'd totally hang out with never actually seem to win.
