Neither are technically since they both live. Not only does Snake have infinite ammo from Meryl's ending, but at the start of 2 he has the optic camo from Otacon's ending. They basically just took parts of both endings and went with them. I'd say Meryl's is more canon since Otacon doesn't necessarily die in that loe, it's just implied that he might when the bomb the base or whatever. Kinda dumb, but I guess it makes sense.
