Is it better to let the auto industry die? The financial industry die? Picking winners and losers is good now?
Also this wont save these farmers if the tariffs stay in effect, it will keep them afloat until Nov so they're not pissed this election cycle, then they'll go bankrupt, and ultra-large farms will buy up their land, consolidating agricultural production in the hands of even less people. This is so nefarious I think it might actually be intentional.

I think it would be better if he admitted starting a trade war simply because he had the power to do so was weong and to ask the nations he upset to enter into some agreements rather than putting a minor (SOCIALIST!) band-aid on the problem and go on pretending he did nothing wrong and as so have no reason to come up with a long-term solution.
