It's worth a try. You just need to do the 1,000 twice a week. I'd preferably get that down to 600 - so mostly fruits and veggies. A salad with mixed greens, white meat chicken, dried cranberries, pecans, and a vinaigrette dressing is what I'd recommend for breakfast. It's low calorie (except for the pecans, but those are necessary since they're a superfood) but high in protein (egg whites are also an option). The other days, I can eat whatever I want so long as it ideally averages under 2,500 calories (hence me having smaller dinners, like a single 250-calorie smoothie, two other nights. Hard to do when pizza, bacon, cookies, and peanut butter Ritz Bits exist, I know. But I'm TRYING.

The 5:2 diet is meant to balance your eating so you don't eat too much fat across a week. I usually do the "2" on Mondays and Thursdays as those are the most logical for my schedule. You do what days are best for you!
