Thoughts on the character stories:

Ophilia: Basically good stuff from start to finish. The way the challenge (story-wise) gradually escalates is great. First, just getting the flame is the challenge. Then delivering the flame is easy, but she has other problems to deal with. Then she faces an obstruction to her quest itself, and finally she has to go into enemy territory and defeat them. This was also the best "guy controls a town" plot I think, since it tied into the rest of the story quite well and the religious stuff made it feel different. It's all very well done. Solid group of supporting characters too.

Cyrus: Even better than Ophilia's, mostly because the supporting cast is awesome. There's a whole bunch of other characters and they're pretty much all great. The last boss is really cool too, and unique from the others. I quite liked the final dungeon. Neat how it (assumably) sets up stuff for the post-game as well.

Tressa: Not my favorite path. I like what they were going for with a non-action based story, but it was just full of dungeons anyway. Plus, I hated Ali. Chapter 4 was really good though.

Olberic: Quality from start to finish. Best part was reconciling with Erhardt and fighting with him on your side. Chapter 3 was the real climax. Only disappointment was that chapter 4 felt like a bit of a retread with the "guy ruling a town" thing, and in a less interesting way than some of the others.

Primrose: By far the most interesting IMO. Really felt like they were going for the emotional punches and giving everything real impact. The twist that Simeon was the villain was a bit weird, since I thought he was Primrose's age at first, but I guess he's just a creepy old guy. Also Chapter 4 was super insane and cool. Definitely the most bizarre part of the game.

Alfyn: I had no idea what they were going to do with this after the first chapter, but unlike Tressa, they actually managed to bring in some interesting side characters for chapters 2 and 3. Ogen, Miguel, and Vanessa were top tier for the game, and they felt like they challenged the protagonist better than anyone in any other route. Chapter 4 wasn't quite as strong a finale, but it was good.

Therion: Cordelia and Heathcote were awesome. I liked every part of the plot that had to do with them a lot. Wish they'd been focused on more, even, since the recovering the dragonstones adventures weren't as exciting. I didn't really like the Darius stuff that much. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great, and it had the same "guy controls a town" plot.

H'aanit: Very good stuff from start to finish. I very much liked the focus on monsters rather than people. Made for a refreshing change from the other routes. I even would've liked less focus on people - the scenes where she talks to herself in the forests and such are the best. Great stuff.

All the routes were good stuff in general, pretty much, with Tressa being the only one that was really a letdown.
