Just adding on to this but as someone who is reading the Fate/Stay Night VN right now but FGO will kind of eliminate some of the suspense the VN/anime give about the servants identities . It doesn't apply for every servant but they definitely try to add a little bit of mystery about who they really are. It's just something to keep in mind but I don't think it really ruined the VN for me.I guess this is normal because I assume a lot of people got into the Fate series because of FGO.
