Cid Highwind There isn't enough swearing or really just general cantankerous attitudes in the Final Fantasy franchise, so to introduce a character like Cid Highwind, who is famous for yelling at the main character to shut the hell up and drink his goddamn tea...it's hard for me NOT to fall in love with the guy. Cid's just a badass. Looking at my list, between Freya, Fang, Cid, and honestly, Kain is probably within 10 spots of the top twenty-five, there's just something cool and intriguing about spear-wielding Dragoon characters. But more than that, I appreciate Cid as being MORE than just your typical swearing badass. This is a legitimate scientist (or at least a mechanical engineer, which I'm going to classify as a scientist), who has built a rocket that is actually capable of space flight. That's pretty awesome. And then he has to scrap his dreams in order to save the life of his future wife, Shera, who got stuck onboard the rocket during his one and only chance to truly test his skills. That's JUST the sort of internal conflict I want to see in a character, and it helps Cid stand out among a solid, yet relatively average FF7 cast. --- Touch fuzzy. Get fuzzier. Inviso ...
