Topic	Save Viso's Favorite Final Fantasy Characters Special Edition: Day 11 [svfffc]

Oerba Yun Fang I absolutely LOVE FF13's playable cast, and if I'm being honest, the main reason why Fang ranks even THIS low on my list is because she's the LAST playable character to officially join the team, and thus we get less story from her than from the other five. And even then, spoiler alert, she's my third-favorite character in the game. But yeah, despite all the overpimping of Lightning by...I wanna say Nomura? Is it Nomura? Despite that, when you play the game and get down to the nitty-gritty of the game, Lightning is NOT the main character. The game doesn't revolve around her. No, the game revolves around Fang and Vanille. And we'll talk about Vanille hopefully a lot later in this contest, but Fang is still pretty awesome. For starters, Fang fits in the badass older female role (and is the fourth and final member of Team F-Bomb to fall, sadly.), and it's actually kinda cool that she's the ideal physical attacker of the group (even moreso than Lightning, who makes a better Ravager if anything.) Again, we have a lance-user, and again, she looks cool as hell wielding that bad boy. But more than that, Fang's story is that of a woman who was cursed a Pulse l'Cie and failed in her task (or did she?) freezing her in crystal for generations. She's got amnesia when she wakes up, and the ONE thing she knows to do is keep an eye out for Vanille, out of Pulse unity. Then it turns out that Fang's entire purpose is to become a world-destroying monster, and she STILL defies her fate until the choice comes down to saving the world or saving Vanille. While it's clearly selfish (Spock's needs of the many versus needs of the few, and all), she gives in to protect the person she cares most about in the world. That's the sort of moral conflict I want from a main character, and let's be real here...by all accounts, Fang is THE main character of the game. Every event that warrants discussion is a result of HER actions either during the game itself, or prior to the beginning of the game. In the end, she not only transforms into badass Ragnarok, but she fights back and manages to save the world her own way (alongside Vanille, of course), and I just think she's really fucking awesome for that. --- Touch fuzzy.
