Warning, some spoilers in this writeup.

The full title is something more like Wolf Children: Ame and Yuki, which basically sums up my opinion on the show. The first part of the movie, with the mom and the wolf is pretty solid stuff. Sad, but good. Though it did feel kinda awkward to me in some ways too, like they hit it off with each other better than they should have, or that the wolfman didnt have as much personality as he couldve. Still, its more of a prologue than anything, and its effective. The rest of the movie focuses on the mom and her kids. The stuff with the mom is pretty solid, learning how to raise werewolf children. It didnt quite do it for me, since Im not a huge fan of stuff that extols the glories of country living, but eh. The real issue is the kids, namely Ame. I basically hate Ame, and have never liked characters like him much. His desire to return to nature basically makes him feel like an ungrateful piece of shit after all the effort his mom went to in raising him. Yuki deciding to be purely human was kinda silly too, though at least that was a little more sympathetic and she was a more likable character in general. I think I wouldve liked it more if at least one of them had found a balance between living as a wolf and living as a human - like their dad seemed to have done. Definitely a disappointment from the man who made Summer Wars and The Girl Who Leapt through Time.
